In 2006, Obagi Medical was preparing for its Initial Public Offering. The Chief Financial Officer recognized the need to bring in senior leadership to head up their Information Technology department. With the impetus of becoming publicly-traded, there were significant steps that needed to be taken in order to support this growth. Having worked with several firms, Obagi Medical was unable to identify the optimal candidate for the role. The candidate needed to have a strong history of successfully scaling IT operations and the vision to get there.
Acquity Group contacted their Chief Financial Officer to discuss his vision for their Technology department. He spoke about the need to hire an individual to head up their Technology organization. After discussing our experience and approach to IT Executive Recruiting, we were able to convince Obagi that we were well-suited to lead up the search. We worked extensively with our client in order to fully understand their organization and culture, and to determine the specific position profile.
The initial pool of hundreds of candidates was screened for baseline qualifications and subsequently reduced in half. Their responses to our questionnaire were then analyzed and scored based on their specific role competencies. After 4 weeks of searching two candidates were presented for consideration. Obagi Medical extended a competitive offer to one of the candidates and he accepted. He quickly assimilated into the organization and became a highly-effective, productive leader gaining respect of his peers, subordinates and upper management.
